The XXXIII Summer Olympic Games, held in Paris, the capital of France, have come to an end.

The athletes from the “Neftçi” Sports Club, representing our country at the Paris-2024 Summer Olympic Games, won 1 gold and 1 bronze medal in this prestigious competition.

Our judoka, Hidayat Heydarov (73 kg), showed great determination by defeating all his opponents and earned the title of Olympic champion. He secured the first medal for our national team at the Paris Olympics. By winning the titles of European, World, and Olympic champion within the same year, Hidayat Heydarov has made history in Azerbaijani sports.

Our Greco-Roman wrestler, Hasrat Jafarov (67 kg), was awarded the bronze medal at the Paris Olympics.

It should be noted that around 11,000 athletes from 206 countries competed in 32 sports for a total of 329 sets of medals at the Paris-2024 Summer Olympic Games. Azerbaijan, represented by 48 athletes in 15 sports, won 7 medals (2 gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze). Our country shared the 30th-31st places in the medal standings with Croatia.

Additionally, it is worth mentioning that our team’s 30th place is the best result in the history of our participation in the Olympics. This surpasses our performance at the London-2012 Summer Olympic Games, where we placed 32nd.
