The official opening ceremony of the Paris-2024 XXXIII Summer Olympic Games has been held. The event, organized on the Seine River, started with 85 boats carrying thousands of athletes moving from the Austerlitz Bridge.

The Azerbaijani team took the 16th place in the parade of nations. Our country’s flag bearers were judoka, “Neftchi” Sports Club’s Gultaj Mammadaliyeva, and boxer Muhammad Abdullayev.

The Azerbaijani national team is represented by 48 athletes in the French capital. Our team will compete in 17 events across 15 sports.

It should be noted that the Paris Olympics, which will continue until August 11, will see nearly 11,000 athletes from 206 countries compete for a total of 329 sets of medals in 32 sports.

It is pleasing that 19 out of the 48 athletes who will honor our country at this prestigious competition are representatives of the “Neftchi” Sports Club.Additionally, the “Neftchi” Sports Club will be represented at the Paris Olympics by our judokas Leyla Aliyeva (48 kg), Gultaj Mammadaliyeva (52 kg), Balabay Agayev (60 kg), Yashar Najafov (66 kg), Hidayat Heydarov (73 kg), Zelim Tchkayev (81 kg), Eljan Hajiyev (90 kg), Ushangi Kokauri (+100 kg), our boxers Malik Hasanov (63.5 kg), Murad Allahverdiyev (80 kg), Alexandra Mollenhauer and Dina Ulyanova in the women’s 3×3 basketball team, our Greco-Roman wrestlers Murad Mammadov (60 kg), Hasrat Jafarov (67 kg), Senan Suleymanov (77 kg), Rafiq Huseynov (87 kg), Sabah Shariati (130 kg), and our freestyle wrestlers Haji Aliyev (65 kg) and Turan Bayramov (74 kg).
