The Greco-Roman and Freestyle Azerbaijan Championship held at the Baku Sports Palace, was concluded. The wrestlers of the “Neftchi” Sports Club demonstrated great determination, earning a total of 35 medals (12 gold, 11 silver, 12 bronze).

In Greco-Roman wrestling, Elmir Aliyev (55 kg), Huseyn Garibov (60 kg), Ziya Babashov (63 kg), Namaz Rustamov (67 kg), Davud Mammadov (77 kg), Qurban Qurbanov (82 kg), and Murad Ahmadov (97 kg) won all their matches and became the national champions. Wrestlers who advanced to the finals but were defeated at that stage – Rashad Mammadov (55 kg), Farid Khalilov (67 kg), Urfan Hasanli (72 kg), Arif Niftullayev (97 kg), and Sarkhan Mammadov (130 kg) – were awarded silver medals. Other athletes, including Rahim Hasanov (55 kg), Ziyad Zeynalov (60 kg), Muhammad Shukurzade (67 kg), Tavakkul Hajiyev (72 kg), Nihat Mammadli (77 kg), Tunjay Vazirzade (87 kg), and Muhammad Ahmadov (97 kg), secured third place in the championship.

In freestyle wrestling, Nuraddin Novruzov (61 kg), Ali Rahimzade (65 kg), Kenan Heybatov (70 kg), Aghanazar Novruzov (74 kg), and Orkhan Abbasov (79 kg) won gold medals of the championship. Silver medals were claimed by Jeyhun Allahverdiyev (61 kg), Murad Hagverdiyev (65 kg), Ziredin Bayramov (70 kg), Vasif Khudiyev (86 kg), Islam Ilyasov (97 kg), and Yusif Dursunov (125 kg). Bronze medals went to Muhammad Ismayilov (57 kg), Bashir Verdiyev (61 kg), Musa Verdiyev (74 kg), Sahib Dadashov (79 kg), and Anar Jafarli (92 kg).

It should be noted that both our Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestlers secured the team championship title in the Azerbaijan Championship.
