Jala Aliyeva, a female wrestler from the “Neftchi” Sports Club competing in the 57 kg weight category, claimed the gold medal at the U-23 World Championships held in Tirana, Albania. In the round of 16, she defeated Ukrainian Alina Filipovich with a score of 7-4.

In the next round, she left no chance for Turkey’s Sevim Akbaş, winning decisively with a score of 10-0. In the semifinals, Aliyeva overcame Sofia Macalusso from the United States, advancing to the U-23 World Championship final for the second consecutive time.

In the final match, Jala Aliyeva faced Japanese wrestler Ruka Natami. Previously a world champion among juniors and youth, Natami engaged Aliyeva in a tense battle. Aliyeva emerged victorious over Ruka Natami with a score of 10-8, becoming the world champion.

It’s worth noting that in the same championship, our Greco-Roman wrestlers also achieved success: Rashad Mammadov (55 kg) earned silver, while Nihad Guluzade (60 kg) and Khasay Hasanli (77 kg) each claimed bronze medals.
