The Azerbaijan championship in pankration, grappling and MMA sports among juniors was held at the Shagan Olympic Sports Complex.
Representatives of the “Neftchi” Sports Club won a set of medals in MMA competitions. One of our athletes, Ayan Sonayeva (66 kg), defeated all her rivals and won the champion title. Abdulla Shahbazli (53 kg) was awarded a silver medal, and Leyla Mikayilova (30 kg) was awarded a bronze medal.
Our club’s athletes won 5 medals in the grappling sport. Of them, Isa Guliyev (36 kg) and Ayan Sonayeva (66 kg) did not admit defeat and rose to the highest step of the podium. Uzeyir Ayvazov (33 kg) took second place, and Zaman Shahlamazov (33 kg) and Mukhtar Ahmadzade (46 kg) took third place.
