A chess tournament dedicated to the “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty” was held among employees of oil, gas and chemical industry enterprises, jointly organized by “Neftchi” Sports Club and the Social Development Department. 29 participants in 14 teams competed in the competition held at the “Mashal” Sports Complex.
The main goal of the competition was to determine the composition of the women’s and men’s teams that will represent SOCAR in the tournament to be organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports among employees of state institutions in this sport.
Among the women, “Azfen” representative Sevinj Aliyeva won the title of winner. Mirvari Mammadova (Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery) took second place, and Arzu Orujova (Information Technologies and Communications Department) and Gulgaz Tahmazova (“Oil and Gas Research and Development” Institute) took third place.
In the men’s competition, Aliyar Heydarov, a representative of the “Azerikimya” Production Association, was the strongest. Gahraman Kazimli (Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery) was second, and Elnur Najafov (“BOS Shelf” LLC) and Mural Ismayilov (Security Department) were third. The winners were awarded diplomas, medals and valuable souvenirs by the “Neftchi” Sports Club.
