At the European Olympic Qualification Tournament for wrestling held in Baku, Azerbaijan, wrestlers from the “Neftchi” Sports Club, Haji Aliyev (65 kg) and Turan Bayramov (74 kg), displayed great skill, earning their Olympic licenses. Haji Aliyev, a three-time world and four-time European champion, emerged victorious in the semifinals against Albanian representative Islam Dudayev with a score of 6:3, securing his third consecutive Olympic qualification. It’s worth noting that Haji Aliyev won a bronze medal in Rio 2016 and a silver medal in Tokyo 2020. Turan Bayramov, on the other hand, defeated Italian representative Frank Chamizo, a two-time world and four-time European champion, in the semifinals. The match ended in an 8:8 draw. Based on the quality of points, Turan Bayramov was declared the winner, securing his spot in the Olympics as well.
