Another female wrestler of the “Neftchi” Sports Club, Elnura Mammadova (53 kg), demonstrated great determination and won a gold medal at the U-23 European Championship held in the capital of Albania, Tirana. Our female athlete defeated Russian Yekaterina Karpushkina 3:0 in the final and climbed to the highest step of the podium.
It should be noted that previously, one of the female wrestlers of our club, Gunay Gurbanova, became the European champion. Asmar Cankurtaran (50 kg) finished the competition with a bronze medal. Our freestyle wrestlers, Jeyhun Allahverdiyev (61 kg), Kenan Heybatov (70 kg) and Aganazar Novruzov (74 kg) won silver, and Murad Hagverdiyev (65 kg) and Yusif Dursunov (125 kg) won bronze medals.
