The Greco-Roman wrestlers of the “Neftchi” Sports Club, who are part of the Azerbaijani national team, won 1 silver and 2 bronze medals at the U-23 European Championship held in Tirana, the capital of Albania. One of our wrestlers, Ziya Babashov (63 kg), faced Moldovan Vitali Yeriomenko in the final and lost with a score of 1:3, ending the continental championship with a silver medal. Elmir Aliyev (55 kg) gave Czech Filip Bartosik no chance in the bronze medal match (8:0) and rose to the third step of the podium. Khasay Hasanli (77 kg) won the bronze medal by defeating Mikhal Zelenka with a complete advantage (9:1) in the third place match.
Let us remind you that previously, Gunay Gurbanova and Elnura Mammadova, among the female wrestlers of our club, became European champions. Asmar Cankurtaran (50 kg) won the bronze medal. Our freestyle wrestlers Jeyhun Allahverdiyev (61 kg), Kenan Heybatov (70 kg) and Aganazar Novruzov (74 kg) won silver, while Murad Hagverdiyev (65 kg) and Yusif Dursunov (125 kg) won bronze.
