The Republican Athletics Championships was held under the organization of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Azerbaijan Athletics Federation. 130 athletes representing the capital and regions of the republic competed in the competition held at the Baku Athletics Center. In the two-day tournament, athletes competed in the triple jump, long jump, high jump, shot put, 60 m, 200 m, 400 m, 800 m, 1500 m, 3000 m running and 4×200 m relay.
Athletes of the “Neftchi” Sports Club performed confidently at the national championship and won 4 gold medals. One of our representatives, Nazim Babayev, became the champion in the long jump competition with a result of 7.32 meters. Bulbul Babayev achieved the same success in the high jump (1.65 meters), Ismayil Aliyev in the shot put (16.36 meters), and Lamiya Valiyeva in the 400-meter run (57.90 seconds) and ascended to the highest step of the podium.
