The XVII Summer Paralympic Games are ongoing in Paris, France. Lamiyə Vəliyeva, a para-athlete from “Neftçi” Sports Club, Paralympic and four-time world champion, won the gold medal in the 100-meter race in the T13 category, finishing first with a time of 11.76 seconds.
With this achievement, our athlete set a new world record, surpassing Leilia Adjametova (Ukraine), who had the best result of 11.79 seconds at the Rio 2016 Paralympics.
It is worth noting that earlier, other Paralympians from our club, Imamaddin Khalilov (para-taekwondo, 70 kg) and Said Najafzadeh (T12, long jump), won gold medals, Raman Saleh (100 meters backstroke) won silver, and Sabir Zeynalov (para-taekwondo, 58 kg) won bronze.
