Həsrət Cəfərov, a Greco-Roman wrestler representing our team under the “Neftçi” Sports Club, has won a bronze medal at the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games held in Paris, the capital of France. Competing in the 67 kg weight category, our athlete faced off against Amantur Ismayilov from Kyrgyzstan in the match for third place. Həsrət Cəfərov emerged victorious with a score of 8:0, securing the third spot on the podium.
It should be noted that this is the first and only medal won by Azerbaijan’s Greco-Roman wrestlers in this prestigious competition.
Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that earlier, our club’s judoka, Hidayət Heydərov (73 kg), became an Olympic champion.
