The Baku championship on 64 squared checkers has been
held among men and women in the Azerbaijan Chess and Checkers Club of Trade Unions. In the
competition (under the Swiss system, 7 rounds) 24 draught-player competed.The players
of “Neftchi Sports Club” claimed 2 gold and 1 bronze medals of the capital
championship. The representative international master Parviz Hasanov scored 12
points out of 14 possible points among the men and owned a gold medal. Famil
Kamilli (four-time world and European champions among the boys up to age 10)
shared 2-3 places with 11 points. However, the athlete ranked in the 3rd by
additional indicators. Among the women the sport master Ulkar Babanli (European
champion up to age 10) scored 8 points and became the winner.Note that,
all three athletes won the right to take part in the Azerbaijan championship,
which will be held in October.
