The head of
administration of the “Neftchi Sports Club” Public Union and the Vice President
of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation Sadig Sadigov has spoken about the annual
activities of the club and the federation to our official website:”If we look
back, we can say that, 2016 has been successful for the “Neftchi Sports Club”.
During this time, significant
steps have been taken, in the direction of modern physical education and sports
services to gas and chemical industry workers and their family members,
included in the structure of SOCAR. So that, volleyball, mini-football, chess,
various sports and tourism competitions among the oil, gas and chemical
industry workers, as well as, XXIV Spartakiad has been held during the year and
more than 1,900 workers have participated in these tournaments.In the field of great sports and training professional
athletes, great successes have also been gained. Our sportsmen have worthily
represented Azerbaijan at the Olympics, as well as, international competitions
at different levels and returned with medals. The sportsmen of the club have
won 5 medals at the Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games (3 silver, 2 bronze).In general, our sportsmen have gained 1150 medals (422
gold, 329 silver and 399 bronze) during the year. Thanks to the achievements,
our club has been awarded the title of “The best sports organization”
by the Youth and Sports Ministry. All of these indicators prove that, “Neftchi
Sports Club” is a leader sport organization in the country.The achievements of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation
during the year are also evident. Rovnag Abdullayev after being elected the
head of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation, a new phase of development has started
in this kind of sport. As a result of the work done, our athletes have taken
part at the Euroepan championships, international tournaments and the Olympic
Games and won medals.After the
important steps, when analyzing the results of the outgoing year, we can see
that, the record number of medals and historical achievements have been gained at
the international tournaments. So that, the members of the national team
(juniors, cadets and seniors) have claimed 140 medals at the international
competitions ( 52 gold, 29 silver and 59 bronze).The
Azerbaijan Judo Federation organizes regularly local and international Judo
training camps of all the national teams at high level ensures the
participation of the judokas at the international tournaments and pays
attention to them.Of course,
the most prestigious competition is the 31th Rio Summer Olympic Games, held in
Brazil. The Azerbaijani judo fighters have gained brilliant victories at the
Olympic Games in Rio and 2 exciting final happiness have been given to us.
Rustam Orujov (73 kg) and Elmar Gasimov (100 kg) have gained the silver medals
of the Olympics. Both fighters, who signed this historic victories and the
silver medalist of the European Championship Orkhan Safarov lead the world
ranking of the International Judo Federation at the moment. This is a first in
the history of judo. And the 2016 European Champion Rustam Orujov has scored
3010 points and leads all over the world in judo.The 15th
Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro has also been successful for the Azerbaijan
Judokas. The Para-judoka Ramil Gasimov (73kq) has won all competitors and
gained a gold medal; Bayram Mustafayev (66kq) has also lost in the final and
owned a silver medal and Rovshan Safarov has won a bronze medal of the
Paralympics.The
management of Azerbaijan Judo Federation attaches great importance to the
development prospects of the junior and cadet judokas, as well as the national
team. The junior and cadet judokas have also gained victories at the European
Championship during this period. The national team (cadets) has won 2 gold
medals at the European Championship held in Malaga, Spain and has been awarded
by a silver medal in the team competitions for the first time in the history of
Azerbaijani judo. And the junior judokas have completed the European
Championship held in Vantaa, Finland with 2 gold medals and 1 bronze medal. At
the U-23 Championship held in Israel, our judokas have gained 1 gold medal and
1 bronze medal.In
addition, our leading coaches, referees and other specialists participate
regularly in the international seminars and exchange of experience programs and
increase their knowledge and skills. Fortunately, our 2 representative of
justice – Matin Rahimli and Arzu Ajalova passed successfully the exam held in Italy
and were awarded with the title of international referee in 2016.Azerbaijani
veteran judo movement has not gone unnoticed. Our veteran judokas have been
sent to the European Championship held in Croatia and the World Championship
organized in Miami, the city of USA and they have won 7 gold, 3 silver and 5
bronze medals.During this
time, national, regional and city-wide championships have also been
unforgettable with the high organizational level and a record number of
participants.Baku Judo
“Grand Slam” Tournament dedicated to the memory of national leader Heydar
Aliyev was organized in highest level held in Baku, May 2016.This fact reflected
in the protocol of the final report of the expert group received by the
International Judo Federation.One
particular fact should be noted that, it was decided to hold the 2018 World Cup
in Baku at the Congress of the International Judo Federation in Rio de Janeiro.
The imposition of such a prestigious competition for our country is an indication
of the victories of our athletes and high organization of the Azerbaijan Judo
Federation.The
upcoming 2017 is rich with authenticity and accuracy of the judo competitions.
International referees and coaches seminar (January); “Grand Slam”
tournament (March); the Islamic Solidarity Games (4thMay); the
European Championship in Warsaw, Poland (April); the World Championship in
Budapest, Hungary (August); the European and the World Championships among
cadets and juniors and the European Youth Olympic Festival will be held in the
capital Baku. We believe that, our judokas delight us with the shine victories.I
