The “Grand Slam” tournament

447 athletes (278 men, 169 women) from 76 countries compete for the
title of winner in the competition dedicated to the memory of national leader
Heydar Aliyev.The representative of “Neftchi
Sports Club” Rustam Orujov (73 kg) won a bronze medal at the “Grand
Slam” tournament. The judoka joined the competition from the second round,
won over the representative of Israel Tohar Bertbul and the Cuban Magdiel
Estrada and reached to the quarter-final. At this stage, Orujov lost to the
Ukrainian opponent Dmitro Kanivets and took part in the repechage matches. In
this match, he won the Greek judoka Georgios Azoidis and the Hungarian Miklos
Ungvari and won the bronze medal.Note that, President of Judo
Federation of Azerbaijan, Rovnag Abdullayev presented Rustam Orujov with the
medal.
