The Baku “Grand Slam” Judo Tournament dedicated to the memory of national leader Heydar Aliyev has been started. 183 athletes from 31 countries (110 men, 73 women) are participating in the tournament organized in the Heydar Aliyev Sport Palace.The national team has owned a bronze medal and it has been won by the judoka of “Neftchi Sports Club”. Orkhan Safarov (60 kg) has faced with the Brazilian athlete Eric Takabatake in the fight for bronze medal. Our judoka has won his opponent by Ippon and owned the first medal of the Baku “Grand Slam” tournament.In this weight category President of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation Mr. Rovnag Abdullayev, the head of administration of “Neftchi Sports Club” PU and the Vice President of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation Mr. Sadig Sadigov and the Olympic medalist Elnur Mammadli have presented the awards.Note that, the prestigious tournament will be finished on 12th March.
