Dedicated
to the memory of national leader Heydar Aliyev, the 5thJudo Open
Tournament has been held in the Sumgayit Sport Complex. In the tournament,
organized by the Azerbaijani Judo Federation and the Sumgait City Youth and
Sports Department, the judokas of Baku, Sumgait, Nakhchivan, Ganja, Barda,
Mingachevir, Gusar, Gubadly, Shabran, Lachin, Gakh, Guba, Gabala, Shirvan,
Agjabedi, as well as Derbent, Nalchik (Russia) have taken part. In the two-day
tournament held among cadets 335 athletes of 38 teams have competed.The judoka
of “Neftchi Sports Club” Firuza Hajiverdiyeva (+63kg) has been awarded a silver
medal among the girls.
