The Judo Grand Prix tournament in Duesseldorf, Germany has been finished. In the three-day tournament 626 judokas have competed for the title of winner from 91 countries.
Our judokas have won a silver medal in this prestigious tournament with the participation of the national team.
It should be noted with great pride;the graduate of " Neftchi” Sports Club Rustam Orujov has won the only silver medal for our country. The athlete competing in the 73 kg weight category has won over the representative of Belarus Aleksey Romanchuk, the Kazakh Didar Hamza and the Mongolian Khadbaatar Narankhuu in a row and has reached to the semi-final. At this stage, Orujov has won the judoka of Georgia, the winner of the London Olympics Lasha Shavdatuashvili and has reached to the final. But in the decisive match our athlete has lost to the Japanese world champion Shohei Ono and has won a silver medal of the Dusseldorf Grand Prix.
Other representatives of the club Orkhan Safarov (60 kg) and Elmar Gasimov (100 kg) have become the 7th in the tournament.
