Ilgar Mushkiyev won a bronze medal in “Grand Slam”

The "Grand Slam" tournament on judo has been finished, given the start in Paris, the capital of France, on 6 February. 583 athletes from 93 countries have participated and 370 men and 213 women judokas have competed in this competition.

Azerbaijan national team has participated with a staff of 11 people in this prestigious tournament. Peter Seisenbacher’s successors have won a silver medal in the "Grand Slam" tournament.

The graduate of "Neftchi” Sports Club Ilgar Mushkiyev has brought the only medal to our country. Competing in the 60 kg weight category the judoka has reached to the final without obstacles. In this way he has won over the Kyrgyz Argen Bakytbek, the Peruvian Juan Postigo, the owner of tatami Vincent Limare, the representative of Korea Won Jin Kim and the Uzbekistan athlete Sharafuddin Lutfillayev. But in the final Ilgar Mushkiyev has lost to his strong opponent of Japan Toru Shishime and he has been awarded the silver medal of The "Grand Slam" tournament.

Other judokas of the club Elmar Gasimov and Elkhan Mammadov (both 100 kg) have completed the tournament in the 5th and in the 7th place respectively.
